Steven Grimm

Steve brings over 30 years of finance and accounting experience to his role as Chief Financial Officer at Sterling. His career began in transaction advisory services at Arthur Andersen, where he worked as a consultant analyzing business models across a range of industries. It was during this time that Steve developed a particular interest in manufacturing companies, especially those that leveraged innovation to fuel growth.

That interest eventually led him out of advisory and into operations, joining a company that tripled in size over five years through organic growth, best-in-class products, and a sharp understanding of untapped market needs. Steve sees similar qualities at Sterling, which is strong leadership, a collaborative culture, and a clear runway for meaningful growth. This mainly inspired him to join the team.

Throughout his career, Steve has held leadership roles in both multinational public corporations and early-stage ventures. He’s passionate about bringing scalable, proven processes into areas that need refinement, and he approaches finance as a collaborative function. Known for his “cooperate to graduate” mindset, he believes finance should be a partner to the business, driving insights, clarity, and action through transparent and accessible data.

Steve challenges his team to make financial information relatable and useful for any stakeholder making decisions. He believes good financial storytelling is essential to business success.

Outside of work, Steve enjoys traveling, gardening, and staying active. He and his wife are proud parents of five children, and he finds great joy in coaching and cheering them on in their athletic and artistic pursuits.
